Operation Cool Down
Protecting Tulsa’s Most Vulnerable Residents During Extreme Heat
Operation Cool Down is an innovative initiative of Oklahoma Veterans United (OKVU) designed to provide single room-sized air conditioning units to low-income Veterans who lack access to air conditioning during the extreme summer heat. While this program primarily serves Veterans, if additional units are available, it is open to non-Veteran residents of Tulsa who meet specific criteria.
Eligibility Criteria
Individuals must complete an application with OKVU staff and meet the following requirements:
- No other air-conditioner in the home
- Resident of Tulsa County
- Enrollment in a public assistance program or meet low-income guidelines
- *A qualifying medical condition that becomes life threatening in extreme heat and is verified by a doctor’s statement
- Limited mobility or difficulty accessing cooler locations during peak heat hours
* Does not apply to Veteran applicants
